The farmhouse was designed, closely working with Ar. Kovid Kalesh, MAK Studios, New Delhi focusing on the careful and historically accurate repair, rehabilitation, or reconstruction of the existing building and structure. The goal of the project was to preserve the original character and integrity of a building while ensuring it meets modern functional and safety requirements. Thorough research was conducted to understand the history and original intent of the building, and site. This involved studying archival records, photographs, and historical documents, conducting various structural strengthening tests, under the supervision of renowned structural engineers. Ensuring the safety and stability of the restored structure was paramount, involving the structural assessments and reinforcement. Modern amenities and accessibility features were integrated into the design where appropriate, including updated HVAC systems, electrical wiring, and accessibility ramps or elevators.

This project involves the creation of a charming and contemporary farmhouse,

where traditional rural charm meets modern functionality. The architectural and interior

design of the farmhouse will reflect a rustic yet refined aesthetic, prioritizing natural materials, sustainability, and comfort. Designed to blend seamlessly with the surrounding countryside, the farmhouse will offer an inviting and cozy atmosphere while maintaining a connection to nature. The overall vision is to create a functional yet elegant space that embodies a relaxed lifestyle, offering a peaceful retreat while preserving the timeless appeal of farmhouse design.

The architectural design of the farmhouse is influenced by classic country aesthetics, with a gabled roof, wide verandas, and stone or timber cladding that give the structure an authentic, rustic feel. The exterior is characterized by natural materials such as reclaimed wood, weathered steel, and stone, which provides both durability and timeless beauty, while blending harmoniously with the natural surroundings.

The design incorporates large windows and glass doors, allowing ample natural light to flood the interior and providing stunning views of the surrounding landscape. French doors and sliding glass panels connect indoor living spaces with expansive outdoor patios, perfect for enjoying outdoor dining and relaxation. The farmhouse features an open-plan layout in the main living areas, ensuring a spacious and airy feel that is conducive to family gatherings and entertainment.

The flooring features warm, rustic materials such as wide-plank hardwood floors or natural stone tiles, with careful attention to durability and easy maintenance. The farmhouse also includes a series of outbuildings, such as a barn, storage spaces, and a separate guest house or workshop, each designed with similar materials to create a cohesive look across the property.

Sustainability being the key, with green roofing, rainwater harvesting systems, and solar panels incorporated into the design, ensuring that the farmhouse is energy-efficient and environmentally responsible. The use of natural ventilation and passive heating/cooling techniques also help reduce energy consumption while maintaining a comfortable indoor environment.
